Zandvliet Wine Estate - Prämiertes Weingut in Robertson, Südafrika
Zandvliet Wine Estate is located in the village of Ashton in South Africa's picturesque Robertson Valley and under the direction of winemaker and managing director Jacques Cilliers produces artfully handcrafted and award-winning wines, which are offered under the Zandvliet Hill of Enon, Zandvliet Kalkveld and Zandvliet Estate Wines ranges.
When talking about Zandvliet, one must mention Shiraz in the same breath. As one of the first wineries in South Africa to grow this noble grape variety, the history of Zandvliet revolves around the Shiraz, which has been providing pure luxury in the glass since 1870 in a combination of time-honoured tradition and modern expertise.
But with Zandvliet's highly endowed portfolio, the Shiraz is certainly not the only noteworthy one today. Zandvliets Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blancs, liqueur wines and gins are causing a sensation in the wine scene worldwide.
The key to Zandvliets outstanding success, apart from over a hundred years of tradition, expertise and passion, lies in the special soil conditions of the vineyards. The calcareous soil with underlying red clay and inclusions of chalky limestone forms the so-called Kalkveld soil, which is the driving force behind Zandvliets classic wines. Zandvliets Hill of Enon wines come from a very special vine block on the estate, which thrives on a rocky outcrop with extremely unusual limestone from the Jurassic period.
The different Zandvliets wine ranges each bring their own unique and unmistakable aromas, and the devoted passion of this remarkable Robertson Estates shines through in each of its wines in a unique way.
