Weingut Yardstick Wines - Erlesene Weine aus Stellenbosch, Südafrika
Yardstick Wines is the joint project of chef Peter Tempelhoff, winemaker Adam Mason and entrepreneur Charles Bank - with their award-winning Yardstick Chardonnay and Yardstick Pinot Noir, Yardstick Blue, Yardstick Yellow and Yardstick Red, Yardstick Wines are opening up a highly endowed portfolio that is highly recognized and respected by wine connoisseurs and wine lovers worldwide.
This culinary project was launched in 2010 with the aim and desire to explore the common denominator of their chosen trades more deeply and to skilfully use their professional networks to develop a direct and close relationship with their customers.
Chef Peter Tempelhoff can boast a long experience in the art of cooking and culinary arts and has built up a remarkable reputation over the last 15 years, during which he has continually developed and expanded his repertoire as a chef. Open-minded and with an interest in everything innovative, he lives for the integration of new influences and inspirations.
Oenologist Adam Mason loves and lives for his passion, wine. The path from the initial agricultural product to the final wine is a fascination he shares with chef Peter Tempelhoff. Just as Adam Mason is dedicated to the path from the grape in the vineyard to the finished bottle of wine, Peter Tempelhoff follows the path from the vegetable garden to the table with the greatest passion.
Behind the Yardstick project is entrepreneur Charles Back, founder and managing partner of Terroir Capital LLC, an investment firm specializing in unique and unusual hospitality and wine businesses. In 2010, he joined winemaker Adam Mason of the Mulderbosch Winery as well as the chef de cuisine of "Relais & Chateau", Peter Tempelhoff, and founded Yardstick Wines.
Their collaboration is based on the same ethos, the same generation and parallel career paths. The winemaking process is kept incredibly simple and minimalist, but it is this simplicity that is often the most challenging in the vineyard and in the winery.
Yardstick Wines is fortunate to be able to source its grapes from vineyards that produce fruit of the highest quality, the most exacting standards and distinctive style - the most important ingredient in its recipe for success.
