Webersburg Wine Estate - Renommiertes Weingut in Stellenbosch, Südafrika
The winery is located in Stellenbosch close to False Bay, a wine-growing area that benefits from cool sea breezes and decomposed granite soil.
Owner Fred Weber does not follow fashion trends out of conviction, which is wonderfully reflected in Webersburg's elegant and well-aged wines. The main focus here is on the production of premium wines that express the unique terroir of the Helderberg region in a natural way, with classic fruit and elegant storage potential.
Webersburg's award-winning and highly acclaimed winegrower and winemaker, Matthew Van Heerden, regularly receives both international and domestic awards, including the remarkable title of "Best Chardonnay in the World" at the International Wine and Spirits Competition in London and the title of "South African Diners Club Young Winemaker of the Year 2011". Both remarkable achievements!
Due to the limited production, every detail of the vineyard, the grape selection and the winemaking process is given the utmost attention. All these factors allow the wines to express the specific flavours and aromas of the grapes and form the quality framework of this prestigious winery.
Webersburg adheres to the philosophy of minimising any intervention in the 18 - 22 month barrel ageing process. There is no hurry in the production and creation of these world-class wines. After barrel ageing, the wine is allowed to rest in the bottle for another two to four years before it is ready to be enjoyed by wine lovers and connoisseurs around the world.
