Dark red with a lively rim in the glass, the Vergenoegd Shiraz has a seductive scent of ripe plums as well as subtle hints of fine spices and white pepper. Also a fine hint of beautiful minerality and soft aromas of chocolate and vanilla bewitch the nose. On the palate, this Shiraz is incredibly smooth with an excellent balance between acidity and fruit. Delicious nuances of aromatic vanilla bean, dark plums and fine spices caress the palate, followed by nuances of vanilla, berries and milk chocolate in the soft and lingering finish.

The grapes were picked by hand and transported in small baskets to the winery, where they were first completely destemmed and lightly crushed. The fermentation was started in stainless steel tanks with the addition of selected yeast strands. Once the wine was dry, it was transferred to the press, whereupon the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation was completed back in the tank. Only the very best tanks were then placed in 300l oak barrels (French, Hungarian and Slovenian oak) for 12 months for aging, 20% of which were new barrels and the remaining 20% were pre-laid. Some wines matured in tanks with the addition of French oak staves.
