With a history dating back to 1780, Van Zellers & Co. is a firmly established part of the centuries-old port wine tradition in Portugal. Owner and winemaker Christiano van Zeller, a descendant of the youngest generation, has been producing highly prized and award-winning port and Douro wines at the family owned Quinta Vale D. Maria in Portugal's famous Douro region since 2006. Among the two wine series VZ and Van Zellers, his rich portfolio includes wines such as Van Zellers Douro Branco, Van Zellers Douro Tinto and Van Zellers Douro Rosé as well as the port wines Van Zellers Ruby Port and Tawny Port and a White Port and Reserva Port. The Quinta Vale D. Maria is an ancient estate in the heart of the Douro Valley, famous for the production of the finest Port and Douro wines. The dedicated team of winemakers and oenologists, consisting of great names such as Sandra Tevares da Silva, Joana Pinhão and Christiano van Zeller, together pursue the goal of translating attributes such as personality, character, enthusiasm, enjoyment, fun, consistency, innovation and life into wine. Christiano van Zeller is also a member of the famous Douro Boys. The Douro Boys are a group of five first-class wine producers from the Portuguese Douro wine region. Since their foundation in 2003, the revolutionary wine quintet has been active worldwide as ambassadors of Portuguese wine from the Douro region. The Douro Boys are not only committed to promoting the Douro wines and their region, but also to first-class quality, which is guaranteed by a strict purity law. The region also has Portugal's highest wine classification, Denominição de Origem Controlada (DOC). The Douro Boys, consisting of the five family wineries Quinta do Crasto (Roquette & Cazes family), Quinta do Vale Meão (winemakers and Olazabal family), Quinta do Vale Dona Maria (van Zeller family), Quinta do Vallado (Ferreira family) and Niepoort Vinhos (Niepoort family), have brought a breath of fresh air to the Douro Valley with their revolutionary collaboration and their success proves them right: The volume of exports has more than doubled in ten years.
