Savage Wines - Hochdotiertes Weingut in Kapstadt, Südafrika
Oenologist Duncan Savage has launched his own Savage Wines range after 14 years as a winemaker at Cape Point Vineyards and has already achieved cult status with many of his award-winning and highly endowed wines, which have been rated 4.5 and 5 stars in a series by South African wine guide John Platter. Wines such as the varietal Cinsaut Follow the Line and the red cuvée Thief of the Night are causing a real stir among wine connoisseurs.
Duncan Savage completed his studies at Elsenburg Agricultural College in 2002 as a top student and moved to Cape Point Vineyards as a winemaker in 2004. He steadfastly adheres to his philosophy that the secret of great wines is the application of traditional winemaking methods and an intense focus on the vineyards themselves. Duncan recently decided to make his solo debut when he purchased his own cellar in Salt River, part of the CBD in Cape Town and launched his own label - SAVAGE Wines. Duncan travels more than 70,000km per year to find the perfect growing locations and the highest quality grape material for his Savage wines. These vineyards are all located in the Western Cape, close to the sea wherever possible. Granite soils are central to Duncan Savage as they produce wines of remarkable purity and finesse - the hallmark of Savage Wines. Duncan Savage's wines are among the most sought-after wines in South Africa, with a steadily growing fan base and cult status.
