Raats Original Chenin Blanc 2023

The grapes for the Raats Original Chenin Blanc come partly from vines that thrive on weathered granite and partly from vines that grow on table mountain sandstone. The grapes of the two different soil types fermented separately. Thus, the grapes from weathered granite bring the typical chalky and mineral approach to the wine, while the berries from sandstone transfer a lot of tropical fruit and structure into the wine. The juice was left to rest in cold for 2-3 days and then cold fermented in stainless steel tanks (14º - 16ºC). Finally, the Chenin Blanc matured on the yeast for 6 months before being bottled for final enjoyment. No wood was used in this production process.
