Quinta dos Quatro Ventos is one of the ten Quintas under the umbrella of Bacalhôa Vinhos, producing first class wines in the famous Douro region in the village of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. Wines such as the Quinta dos Quatro Ventos Tinto and Reserva Tinto as well as the "Foral" series offer classic Douro enjoyment of unmistakable character. Bacalhôa Vinhos is one of the largest and most innovative wine companies in Portugal, and in recent years has gained a prestigious reputation among wine lovers and connoisseurs alike, with numerous ranges of wines both on the domestic and international markets. With a total cultivated area of 1200 ha, the company produces first class wines in seven different regions of Portugal, which are pressed from 40 different grape varieties in three different wine production centres. The 150 ha Quinta dos Quatro Ventos, which dates from the fifth century, is located in the Douro Superior, where it is part of a deep valley crossed by the Ribeira da Teja river, with a total area of 45 ha. At altitudes ranging from 200 m to 250 m, the region's traditional grape varieties thrive here, including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Tinta Amarela, on a combination of slate and granite soils that produce wines of unmistakable complexity, freshness and elegance.
