Quinta do Crasto - Preisgekröntes Weingut in Portugals Douro Region
The origins of the Quinta do Crasto, in the Douro, go back to 1615. 70 hectares out of a total of 130 are planted with vines. Traditionally, mixed planting was practised, since 1986 successive horizontal terraces have been laid out. The use of traditional "Lagares" (open granite fermentation tanks) on the one hand and modern vinification in steel tanks on the other hand show that the Quinta do Crasto strives to combine the terroir idea with a modern wine style. These efforts are rewarded with numerous international awards. The wines are characterized by a rare combination of comprehensibility and reliability and depth in structure and aroma. The union of Douro specific aromas, modernity, length and charm make these wines irresistible.
