Quinta de Pancas - Historisches Weingut in Lissabon, Portugal

Quinta de Pancas is located in "Upper Alenquer County", 45 km northeast of Lisbon, right next to the Pancas village.
The winery, one of the oldest in this municipality, was founded by the Guimarães family in 1495 and remained their property for more than five centuries until it was purchased by Companhia das Quintas in 2006. Quinta de Pancas is strongly influenced by the architecture of the manor house, namely the entrance arch with its coat of arms and the 16th century tiles. According to a recent census, there are 160 estates in the area all with coats of arms or chapels, a number that is impressive and has a special meaning. The existence of these quintas (estates) has always gone hand in hand with wine production. It is therefore not surprising that Alenquer remains the second largest wine-producing district in Portugal.
