Piekenierskloof Wine Company - Weingut in Südafrikas Swartland Region

The Piekenierskloof Wine Company, under the direction of oenologist Jaco Brand and with the advice of Charles Back, has been producing its award-winning and highly endowed portfolio of first-class wines from the Piekenierskloof wine region since 2015. This portfolio includes varietal wines such as the Piekenierskloof Chenin Blanc, Piekenierskloof Grenache and Grenache Rosé.

Nestled in the Citrusdal Mountains, about 50 km north of South Africa's Swartland Region, is the magnificent Piekenierskloof Plateau, which is the perfect natural environment for successful wine growing. At an altitude of 750 m above sea level, the climate here is characterised by hot daytime and cool night-time temperatures, which allows the grapes to ripen slowly and develop incredibly complex nuances of taste and aroma. The grapes of unirrigated and unrooted dry land vines from the 1950s are still used today for the production of the Piekenierskloof wine series.

The story behind the name and the Piekenierskloof bottle label commemorates the Dutch "Piekeniers" (soldiers) who, in their search for new beginnings, once became known as peaceful protectors of the wide Piekenierskloof Pass and made it their new home.

Awarded with the Fairtrade label, the wines of the winery present themselves in an uncomplicated manner, enjoyable, fruity and easily accessible and convince with a spectacular price-performance ratio. The wines offer a true expression of this diverse wine region with its sunny climate, which transfers deliciously juicy, generous and fresh fruit into the wine.

Winemaker Jaco Brand is an accomplished oenologist, he has a deep understanding of the local climate and can boast a great deal of expertise. The first Piekenierskloof wines were launched in 2015 under the direction of Jaco Brand and Charles Back (well known owners of the Fairview and Spice Route wineries) and have established themselves successfully in the domestic and international wine market in a very short time. Numerous prizes and prestigious awards are proof of the outstanding quality of the wines.
