Knorhoek Wines - Weingut in Stellenbosch, Südafrika
Already in 1694 the first settlers recognized the potential of the fertile foothills of Simonsberg Mountain.
Around 1793, most of this land was owned by the legendary Martin Melck, and it was most likely he who changed the original name of the farm from Kleygat (clay hole) to Knorhoek. In a contemporary document he called this place 'de plaats waar de leeuwen knorren' - the place where the lions growl. Today there are no lions here anymore, but, instead, a young and dynamic team that runs this beautiful farm and continues Knorhoek's art of winemaking in the fifth generation.
Their highly acclaimed wines in the Knorhoek range, consisting of the award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon, their Cabernet Franc, the Chenin Blanc Barrel Fermented and Knorhoek's HVN Cape Ruby Blend have won several prestigious awards.
