The Robertson region is famous for its lush green and harvest-rich vineyards. South Africa is known worldwide for its excellent wines and therefore it is no surprise that Klipdrift is highly regarded on the international stage. Prestigious prizes and awards on a global scale bear witness to Klipdrift's almost one hundred years of love of tradition and attention to detail.

Legend has it that the first drop of Klipdrift Brandy was distilled in 1938 by Master Blender JP Marais at exactly 20:02. Known for his generosity, he shared this brandy with his friends and neighbours, who could not stop raving about the soft and full-bodied taste of this very special drop. Klipdrift's philosophy in the production of premium brandies has always been that everything superfluous must be removed until you reach the heart of the essential - liquid gold! The starting wines for the production of Klipdrift Brandy are selected with the greatest care and a great deal of know-how to meet the centuries-old consistency of the highest quality standards. During the first distillation, large quantities of water and soluble solids are removed from the wine and the base wine is obtained, which is used for further production. This is distilled in 50-year-old copper stills, which makes it possible to divide the wine distillate into three parts and thus extract only the best part for further production. The first part of the distillate is drained from the traditional copper kettle and immediately disposed of, as well as the final distillation alcohol, which is produced in the last hours of the production process. And it is precisely between the first and last distillation steps that the heart of the brandy is created - the soul of every Klipdrift brandy and the only part of the distillate that is allowed to mature further in the barrel, promising gold in every single drop of Klipdrift. The brandy spends at least three years in barrels of the finest French oak, which transfer the classic taste nuances for which Klipdrift is so popular into the brandy. During this maturing process, a part evaporates through the porous wood of the barrels. On Klipdrift, this part is affectionately known as the "angel's part", which one likes to share with the angels. After the maturing process is completed, the part where science gives way and makes room for the artistry and outstanding skill of the Master Blender, who cuts the different barrels with great care and brings Klipdrift Brandy to life.
