Situated on the long, south-facing slopes of the Helderberg Mountain Range, with cool coastal breezes, is Journey's End Vineyards in Somerset West, run by the Gabb family. With just a handful of first-class, handcrafted wines, the winery, under the oenological guidance of winemakers Leon Esterhuizen and Mike Dawson, places great emphasis on the quality and natural vinification of its wines.

In 1995 the Gabb family (originally from Shropshire, UK) took over the picturesque wine farm, which is surrounded by 20 hectares of magnificent vineyards. They have invested heavily in the vineyards and the winery since then, and the estate has grown to over 120 hectares. Journey's End's first investment was made by Roger Gabb, who was the founder and managing director of Western Wines at the time. After the sale of Western Wines in 2006, the family focused exclusively on their Journey's End estate. The Gabb family philosophy is to keep interference in the natural vinification process to an absolute minimum. The aim is to create top-quality wines with only one vineyard and one designation of origin, with an unmistakable character of origin in every drop of their wine. The Gabb family is committed to environmental sustainability and social responsibility and so Journey's End pays close attention to the sustainable and ethical production of its premium wines. Respect for the environment is tangible and profound, which is reflected in farming methods that are as close to nature as possible. Journey's End was not only a WEITA, IPW and BWI champion, but was also converted to solar energy in 2014. The farm is fully Fairtrade certified since April 2017.
