Herdade da Malhadinha - Prämiertes Alentejo-Weingut in Portugal

Herdade da Malhadinha
Herdade da Malhadinha

The Herdade da Malhadinha Nova winery is a classic family estate in Portugal's picturesque Alentejo region in the locality of Albernoa. Under the direction of oenologists, Nuno Gonzalez and Luís Duarte, the winery's authentic and award-winning wine portfolio is produced. The perfect weather conditions of the Alentejo, the slate soils of the region, the well watered slopes of the vineyards and the carefully selected traditional grape varieties of the region - Touriga Nacional, Aragonês, Bouschet of Alicante, Tinta Miuda, Baga, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (red grape varieties) and Arinto, Roupeiro, Antão Vaz, Alvarinho, Verdelho, Viognier and Petit Manseng on the white side, form the terroir of Malhadinha Nova with excellent conditions for the production of wines of unmistakable character and first-class quality. Since 1998, the once long-abandoned land has been transformed with passion and dedication into fields and vineyards, where today authentic and high-quality Alentejo products thrive. In 2001, the first 20 hectares of vineyards were planted, which have grown to a total area of 35 hectares to date. This is where the remarkable wines of Herdade da Malhadinha Nova are produced. The winemaker and family friend Luís Duarte has accompanied the project from the beginning. His remarkable career is closely linked to the Esporão winery, which has produced numerous award-winning wines. In 2001, he was named Wine Grower of the Year. He is considered one of the most prestigious winemakers in Portugal, with excellent results in advising wine producers in the Alentejo region. With the support of Nuno Gonzalez, a winemaker based in the region, together they ensure the quality and individuality of Malhadinha Nova wines.
