With their extravagant names such as The Very Sexy Shiraz, Inkspot Vin Noir, The Dark Side Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz and Happy Dragon Pinotage, as well as their wonderfully artistic labels, the wines from the Cloof Wine Estate also attract attention in their presentation. The German-Belgian winemaker Christopher van Dieren has been on board the Cloof Wine Estates since 2002. With his burning passion for wine production he has contributed immensely to the success of the Cloof wines. Year after year his wines are showered with national and international prizes and awards.

At Cloof Wine Estate, the approach taken is that each wine label should be a reflection of the uniqueness of the wine in the bottle itself.
The small village of Darling on South Africa's west coast is home to many artists, actors, retired financiers, farmers and many interesting people. Although Darling may seem a little remote, it blossoms in all its glory every year when Darling's annual "Wild Flower Show" draws thousands of people from near and far.
Cloof's oldest vines date back to 1966, supplemented by vines planted later, in 1976 and 1987, when Darling, which borders the Swartland, was better known for growing wheat. Cloof's winery was completed in 1998 and the first wine under its own label was released in 1999. In 2003, Darling was declared an official wine region in recognition of the special and unique style and quality of the vines growing here.
