Capaia Wine Estate - Prämiertes Weingut in Philadelphia, Südafrika

Capaia
Capaia

Where wheat was once cultivated, noble grape varieties thrive today, which are processed into fine wines in the magnificently built Capaia Winery. The award-winning portfolio includes the Capaia ONE, the Capaia Sauvignon Blanc, the Capaia Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and as a novelty the Capaia Mariella's.
Capaia is located in the still relatively young wine region of Philadelphia and was declared an estate in 2005 based on the Château principle. Capaia's entire terrain covers 140 hectares and extends over the north-eastern flank of the Olifantskop. The estate is located about 30 km from Cape Town and 10 km from the Atlantic Ocean.
At the heart of Capaia, is the winery, which is built into the hillside at an altitude of 200m. The winery was also built in accordance with the guidelines of Tibor Gál and the requirements for state-of-the-art wine production. Red wines on Capaia are fermented on the skins for a period of 25-30 days, with the red wine being aged in 150-year-old French oak barrels. These are equipped with temperature regulators, which are handmade by Tonnellerie Taransaud in French Cognac. White wines, like Capaias Sauvignon Blanc, are aged exclusively in stainless steel. The wines are produced under the care of the internationally renowned winemakers Stephan Graf Neipperg and Armin Tement.
In accordance with the Château principle, Capaias wines are made only from grapes grown on the estate's own land. The flagship and trademark of Capaia is the Capaia ONE, a cuvée of the four grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.
The climate of the region is one of the most salubrious in the world and is beneficial to both man and the vines.
